Monday Morning T&A from the Girls
Even though NFL football is out of session for the weekend, our thoughts and analysis coming off the weekend have to take the gridiron into account.
We just have to ask: what could possibly be the motivation for Jerry Jones to all but guarantee that his team will once again be left out of the conversation when the playoffs begin? It’s not the chronic lateness, or the enduring support of coach cupcake, or even the inability to be disciplined about spending, nor the questionable signings that have us asking. It is, of course, the reality show.
There will be an open competition for the 80th spot on the roster down in Crazy Happy Valley. Sources say all will take place well before training camp and it will not be a distraction once camp begins. Um hmmmm. Like having some dude that was cutting grass at the beginning of the summer show up for drills with cameras following his every move wont take away from the intensity?
Plus, haven’t we seen this before?
Hey, we like reality as much as the next person. But reality TV and football should be like church and state: separate. Hard Knocks did not a contender make last year. Where was that filmed again? Oh, Dallas training camp. Now I remember…
And the host and executive producer? Michael Irvin.
The real reason behind this brainchild is that Jerry Jones thinks he alone ‘gets it’. He brings a deep understanding that professional sport is more entertainment than the other stuff that people talk about on the fringes like intensity, chemistry, dedication and practice and execution.
We feel sorry Dallas fans. And that’s not easy for us to do.
Oh, and Jerry Jones will be a judge because, as Irvin pontificates, “Nobody believes in dreams more than Jerry Jones.”
All dreams, that is, except winning the Vince Lombardi trophy. Come January, he’ll be howling at the moon. Again.
