The Fantoo Girls Fannies Awards Have Arrived!
Not our actual fannies, mind you. We’ve had those since the day we were born. And they have not changed at all.
The Fannies Awards Show and Extravaganza is back for it’s second year! We are now accepting nominations in the following categories:
The 2008 Fannies
1. The Good Guy Gone Bad Award: awarded to the athlete or sports personality who turned it around this year, going from tres saintly to flat out nasty.
2. The Bad Guy Gone Good Award: see above, check it, flip it and make your selection.
3. The Do I Offend Award: awarded to the athlete, sportscaster, coach or other person associated with professional sports that reigns supreme in offending others’ sensibilities. Good luck narrowing this one down.
4. The Trading Spaces Award: awarded to the team that has made the most questionable acquisitions during the year in a trade, a firing or any other personnel change.
5. The Humpty Dumpty Award: awarded to the athlete or team that seemed unbreakable during the regular season and then fell apart in the post-season or other critical game.
6. The Unrequited Love Award: awarded to the athlete whose heart’s desire could never be satisfied. Now go run amok with this one.
7. The Epic Screw You Award: awarded to the entity (athlete, franchise, referee) that really put it to the fans. Now’s your chance to vent!
8. The Fat-lete of The Year Award: awarded to the athlete who packed on the most pounds with the least amount of guilt.
9. The Big Story of 2009 Award: awarded to the person who will make the most headlines in 2009. Here’s your chance to use that crystal ball that’s been collecting dust in your man cave. ‘Cuz you know every man cave has a crystal ball. Or two.
10. The Baby, You Rock Award: awarded to the athlete that has it all going on - talented, smart, funny, all with a human-size ego.
11. The Fan Czar Award: awarded to the fan who puts forth the single best suggestion for change in the world of sport. Nothing and no one is off-limits here.
Please comment here with your nominations, or if you would prefer, email info at fantoo dot com. The Girls will spend hours tirelessly entering your replies into a super complicated spread sheet. Then we’ll use our fingers to count up the results. That’s way more reliable, but the spread sheet makes it look professional. And we’re all about appearances here.
We’ll be waiting impatiently for your nominations!

I wish I were better informed but the memory only holds on to information a very short time.
I do know the # 1 award should go to PLAXICO B. Unbelievable. behavior. If these fellas have time to kill, why don’t they go volunteer at their neighborhood hospital or soup kitchen. DO SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE ELSE FOR A CHANGE. (Do it quietly-not for a photo op!!!

#4.1: Miami Dolphins for picking a QB..Chad Pennington
#4.2: Yankees for throwing too much money at players again recently.

1. Manny Ramirez… wasn’t as bad as Johnny Damon going to the dark side, but still.
2. Bill Belicheck: he could’ve gone all snipey, but instead he concentrated on pulling out a decent season.
3. Does Marge Schott still count?
4. Yankees…. they ask for a tax break after signing three guys for $400 mil.
5. Indianapolis… they just looked too cocky.
6. Matt Cassell and/or Jacoby Ellsbury… they tried so hard!
7. Any team management who upped the ticket price or submitted plans to build a new stadium in this economy.
8. The Eagles coach… I know that’ll get me in trouble with you girls!
9. Alexander Ovechkin… geez he’s good!
