Gridiron Greats, Dumb Tanks and Trading Bedlam with The Girls!
We’re fresh off our first show on SIRIUS Sports Central - channel 123 - and we had too much fun. But apparently not enough to get fired. Maybe that’s because they couldn’t find anyone to do the show on July 4th - it is a holiday. But SIRIUSly folks - the entire team there was great and the callers were very welcoming. We’re psyched to be part of the family and will try not to sully the name. We’ll be back there next Wednesday to torture Dave and Erik and entertain all those who tune in.
The Philadelphia Eagles have redesigned their website, which has always been the best in the league. Check it out - lots of great content and our XX Factor feature every Wednesday. It’s really easy to find now, especially the archives which are accessible via the features link on the home page. Great job guys!
The Girls are giving Radar the 4th of July holiday off so he can tolerate us for a few more months, so sadly there will be no podcast next week. I think it hurts us more than anyone. We’ll probably stay in bed all day and whimper.
Do check back for a posting on the NBA Draft and other happenings - we won’t leave you totally high and dry! For those in the States - enjoy the holiday and for those around the world - have a beer for us.
And now what you’ve all been waiting for…a freshy podcast. It passed the squeeze test, 4Real.
Gridiron Greats, Dumb Tanks and Trading Bedlam with The Girls!
Today The Girls are coming to you live from CONCACAF. We have no idea where it is, and quite frankly we think we’re lost. Whatever it stands for, the USA won it. Something about futbol, sombreros, and we’re pretty sure we heard the word GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a good time. Congrats boys - and just how many of you are American anyway?
Wimbledon has arrived and Roger Federer is way too favored to feel comfortable. It’s almost like a jinx to be an 80% LOCK to win. You know that means someone else is going to be raising that big trophy in a few weeks. Shall it be Nadal? ‘Forever bridesmaid’ Roddick?

Whoever it is, Wimbledon always entertains come the final weekend and The Girls will have the inside scoop for you so stay tuned.
In other World of Sport news, the NFL Players Association descends on Capital Hill to defend its Long Term Disability policy which has been the target of much criticism as of late, along with the overall treatment of retired NFL players. Let’s hope the government can get Upshaw to snap out of it, or at least to stop threatening people. That’s really unbecoming. Oh, BUH BYE Tank Johnson. Guess zero tolerance in Lovie Smith’s camp means just that. How about you take PacIdiot with you?
Onto the MLB. In this week’s podcast The Girls get pumped about the All-Star break which signifies the start of madness in the baseball world. Who will surge? Who will falter? Who will get traded? And will there be enough pitchers to get through a post-season? All these questions and more are batted about as well as a tasty Fan-Tutor on the DH and Pinch Hitter rules. You’ll either understand them or be thoroughly confused - we make no promises.
So who thought the NBA Draft would be more exciting than the Championship series? Yea, it’s deep - we’ve heard that before. But the real story is who will trade a franchise player to move up into the top 10? And why does Kobe really want to leave LA? Is it because the Lakers won’t surround him with talent or because he wants to get himself over to that ultra-competitive conference known as the East? Maybe he just wants to be away from Paris Hilton. And Larry King. That we can understand. Whatever the answer, the next few weeks in the land of basketball will prove to be very interesting. Go figure. Perhaps David Stern is a genius after all. Nahhhhhhhh.
After a quick spin through the world of racing where numbers are held for ransom and races are won on fumes, The Girls leave you with this week’s IT HAS TO BE SAID. 4Real.
So grab your British accent, a sombrero and some snacks - it’s time to talk sports - 4Real - with The Girls!
